Military moms-to-be are some of the bravest women I know, which is why I adore all of the work that Operation Shower does to throw an event in their honor. Operation Shower recently teamed up with Birdies for the Brave®, Carousel Designs and “Extra” to host a baby shower for 40 military moms-to-be last month (June 18). The event was during the PGA TOUR’s Travelers Championship and“Extra” correspondent Hilaria Thomas Baldwin served as the event’s guest host.
Hilaria and her husband Alec Baldwin are currently expecting their first child together in just a few months. She’s known for her role on the entertainment news show Extra as the fitness and wellness expert and the co-founder of the Yoga Vida yoga studio. As a first-time mom herself, Hilaria was thrilled to be helping and honoring local military families during the Operation Shower for 40 military moms-to-be whose spouses are deployed members of the U.S. Navy, Naval Submarine School and Connecticut Army National Guard.
Lunch was served by Applebees and sponsored by baby bedding company Carousel Designs, Travelers Championship, Petunia Pickle Bottom, 4moms and Extra. The “Red, White and Coo”-themed event was held at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CT., and the highlight was of course Operation Shower’s signature “Shower in a Box.”
Each mom received an assortment of some of the best baby products and gear from the sponsors. From onesies and baby bottles to clothing, crib bedding, diaper bags and toys, the gifts will go a long way toward raising the spirits of the moms-to-be, many of whom would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience a baby shower.
