Hotel Review: EPIC Hotel In Miami Is Indeed Just That!

Rich in flavour, color and the king of nightlife, Miami is a great spot for the happening crowd. It also happens to be a fun destination for families and one of the most popular cruise ports in North America. Carnival Cruise Lines arranged our stay at the  EPIC hotel by Kimpton in Miami for our pre-cruise stay. Known for their celebrity cliental, the EPIC is a posh choice located in downtown Miami. We arrived in the evening and checked into the hotel around 11 p.m. There is a club located on the upper level of the hotel, so when we pulled in, there were quite a few scantily dressed adults having a good time. Not surprising as Miami is known for their nightlife, however my children were asleep at the time, so didn’t have a chance to see such.

Luxury is the Epic’s middle name. Don’t be surprised if you see a couple of celebrities during your stay. Shania Twain, P Diddy, Matt Damon, Naomi Campbell and Mary J. Blige are just a few of their celebrity cliental.

The lobby is sky-high and as grand as it is wide. The hotel has put an incredible amount of detail into the decor. The hotel is located less than a mile from the Port of Miami, making this an ideal spot for your pre-cruise vacation. It is also just 10 minutes from South Beach and within close proximity to Miami’s Bayside Market Place – an ideal location all around.

We stayed in the hotel’s Double Premier Room, where we were provided with two double beds and 475 square-feet of space, ample room for a traveling family. Yes the beds are divine and plush wrapped in triple sheeted Frette linens, but the bathroom is where I wanted to spend the rest of my days.

Hydrotherapy air bath tub, a gorgeous walk-in shower and double sinks.

Each room has a fish. Yes, a FISH! Apparently this is the standard in Kimpton Hotels. You don’t have to worry about feeding or caring for the fish during your stay as the hotel staff does that for you. As you can probably imagine the kids went crazy over this and were stunned to find a pet in our room. We had to put the fish up a little higher as my son was a little too eager…

Our stay was pleasant and uneventful. Everyone slept well and we were up at a reasonable time to enjoy breakfast.

Area 31 is where breakfast is served. There is an outdoor terrace that provides stunning views of the city. Breathtaking really. We dined poolside as the hotel had put together a private event for all of the travel media. The food was wonderful and thoughtfully put together.

Watermelon ‘popsicles’, mini frittatas, a breakfast bellini bar and mini cups of oatmeal were just some of the highlights. Sitting by the pool was mesmerizing in itself.

The hotel has an infinity edge pool and a smaller lap pool just adjacent to one another. The atmosphere here is simply sublime and the view definitely adds to the ambiance.

Each room comes with its own yoga mat. free of charge, inviting you to visit their complimentary 24-hour fitness center. It’s just adjacent to the Exhale spa and has everything you need to get your body moving. Personal trainers are also avaialble upon request.

I’m intrigued with Kimpton Hotels and can’t wait to discover their other properties. This is one chain that goes one step-up, catering to both your body, mind and soul. Their service and little touches go a very long way!

If you have booked a cruise out of Miami and are looking for a nice treat beforehand, definitely check out the EPIC Hotel. It is just a short drive to the port and their facilities are guaranteed to please!
