Last Friday night in Paris, Viktor&Rolf debuted their latest creative collaboration, this time with Bugaboo in aid of the charity (RED). During a cocktail reception at the Park Hyatt, Victor Horsting spoke to Vogue about the fun project saying “The idea was ‘my first car’ and thinking about what a stroller is and a car came to mind, which is ironic and surreal and goes very well with Viktor & Rolf.”
The (My First Car) Viktor&Rolf for Bugaboo stroller is a sleek looking stroller Bugaboo Cameleon3 featuring the designers’ signature car trademarks. The pushchair comes in a mono-colour anodised grey chassis, with grey, classic sports car-style fabric, a leather-look canopy with a matching leather-look wheel skin – hand-stitched to the handle bar and carry handle.
There is a rear window on the chassis that allows you to keep an eye on your baby. My First Car is also exclusively equipped with rear silver alloy wheels featuring the iconic Viktor&Rolf emblem. Both the footmuff and rear of the carrycot feature a tongue-in-cheek custom-made license plate stating ‘bb – ♡ – V&R’.
Designers Viktor Horsting & Rolf Snoeren commented on the project saying:
“Working on this collaboration with Bugaboo was a creative challenge for us as it’s out of our immediate design sphere, which always proves to be interesting as you can think about objects differently. In doing so, we envisioned a My First Car Bugaboo – a luxurious and innovative vehicle which is the ultimate in mobility design. There is a slightly ironic and unexpected twist as this Bugaboo takes to the open road – but we love the idea of any design object being transformative.”
Available at selected stores across the globe from September 2012 for a period of approximately 12 months or while supply lasts.
