Hand stamped gifts are a personal favorite of mine. I love the craftsmanship and that someone took the time to carefully place each letter, proceeding with care, before striking the indelible impression.
I’m even more in love with this art since discovering Sima Gilady.
Sima crafts in both Hebrew and English, and has an interesting assortment of discs and charms to choose from. Some of the pendants are concave, while others have a rim. The combinations she has created are artistic, almost magical.
I was thrilled to get a necklace with my children’s names written in Hebrew. The necklace arrived in a simple kraft box tied neatly with a a red thread. Similar to the red thread I wear around my wrist with a hamsa – a Jewish superstition. Inside I found my necklace perfectly inscribed with each of my 4 kid’s names and embellished with a pearl and a small glass “no evil eye” bead.
Sima also sells charms with a popular verse from The Song of Songs “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine” and a charming disc enscribed with a blessing that is often done over children, travelers or anyone who could use a little extra care. It’s what I now want for Mother’s Day, I’m just not sure if I want it for my children or myself.
My sentimental side says that there is no more perfect gift for Mother’s Day than a piece of personalized, hand crafted jewelry. I don’t think you can find a lovelier selection than the one at Sima Gilady’s shop.
