Well, these are interesting! Last week, Crocs announced the launch of Crocs Chameleons™, a new color-changing shoe line. This new shoe collection combines photochromic technology with Crocs’ proprietary closed-cell resin Croslite™ material to create the very first color-changing technology in molded footwear.
Crocs Chameleons™ shoes change color when exposed to sunlight and then revert to their original color once they are removed from the UV rays. The photo above shows the shoes after being exposed while the cover photo is ‘before’. These shoes will be released on Friday, May 13th in a limited quantity, but those who want first dibs on the new shoes, can visit Crocs Chameleons to sign up in order to receive a link to a pre-sale website. The site will allow signed up customers to purchase the shoes 24 hours before they go on sale to the general public.
The Crocs Chameleons™ line will launch with two styles:
- Crocs Chameleons™ Translucent Clog ($39.99, sizes C4 – J1). The classic clog-style shoe for boys and girls, with Chameleon technology will be available in lime/yellow, oyster/pink lemonade and celery/sea blue.
- Crocs Chameleons™ Shirley ($39.99, sizes C9 – J1). Is the girly version pictured and offers a feminine twist on the classic clog with its feminine flower cut out. The Shirley will be available in oyster/ultraviolet and celery/fuchsia.
If you aren’t able to snag a pair now, additional Crocs Chameleons ™ shoes will be available later in the summer, just in time for the back-to-school shopping season. In 2012 the collection will expand offering new colors and styles.
