K.I.D.S., an internationally renowned children’s charity has coordinated immediate relief efforts after the devestating 9.0 magnitude earthquake and 23 foot tsunami hit the northern part of Japan.
In over 25 years, K.I.D.S. has provided over 65 million underprivileged and disaster-struck children with close to one billion dollars of NEW clothing, toys, basic necessities, juvenile products, books and much more! Urgently needed new items such as blankets, undergarments and apparel are being collected and K.I.D.S. is working with its not-for-profit partners to ensure that shipments quickly reach affected children and families.
“For children who have lost everything in the devastating earthquake and tsunami, a new blanket or outfit means the entire world,” said Dr. Janice Weinman, President of K.I.D.S. “As we mobilize our global network of resources to aid in this massive relief effort, the generous support of our donors will ensure that we are able to provide essential clothing and goods that children and families need in order to begin rebuilding their lives.”
K.I.D.S. is asking retailers and manufacturers to donate new products in this desperate situation. If you don’t work in the industry, you can still help out by providing monetary support online or by calling 212-279-5493. K.I.D.S. provides a 10-to-1 system of matching donations, donating $10 worth of new product for every $1 raised.
Donations of $5, which will provide $50 of new merchandise to child in need, may be made by texting the word ALLKIDS to 85944.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the families in Japan! After the sudden scare we had here in Hawaii last week, I can’t even begin to imagine what they are going through.
