I mentioned in my previous posts about Quantum of the Seas that I had never been on a cruise before. As a newbie, one of the things I was nervous about was the dining – I’d always heard that choices were limited and you had to sit with people you don’t know. I have to admit, the thing I got most excited about when boarding Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas for the first time was the promise of tech. ‘ Exciting news in the travel world today! Royal Caribbean revealed details and photos for their next generation of cruise ships. Quantum ships will span 18 decks, encompass 167,800 gross registered tons and carry 4,180 guests at double occupancy. This new class of ships will be introducing many ‘firsts’ to the cruising industry such as bumper cars at sea, roller skating and the largest indoor sports and entertainment complex at sea (just to name but a few). We’ve been waiting with baited breath for the announcement on Royal Caribbean’s “Project Sunshine” announced earlier last year. RCL has been very mum on details until this week when they announced the names of their new Quantum Class of ships. Quantum of the Seas, set to debut in fall 2014, and Anthem of the Seas, which will follow in spring 2015.
