There is something magical about the Grand Hotel. I guess that’s what happens when your a National Historic Landmark and one of the most loved vacation spots in America since 1887. My family and I have been visiting this incredible spot for several years now and it’s one that never, ever gets old. We’ve given you a tour of the Grand Hotel, shown off the newest addition, Sadie’s Ice Cream Parlor, and most recently, I wrote about why I believe this hotel should be on your bucket list. The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan has a new addition! Last year they shared their plans to turn the flower shop into an old-fashioned ice cream parlour and after a busy fall and winter, they’ve done just that. Sadie’s Ice Cream Parlor is an adorable shop accessible to guests of the hotel as well as visitors to Mackinac Island. The story behind Sadie’s is an interesting one. Mr. and Mrs. Musser, the hotel’s proprietors have a little dog who’s name is Sadie. My curiosity for the Grand Hotel began while watching a movie with my husband years ago. He had asked me if I had seen “Somewhere In Time” with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour and insisted that I watch it after I admitted to never viewing the film. The story, the characters and the beauty of the past pulled me in and I was immediately entranced with the gorgeous hotel in the film.
