Another big designer is joining the children’s fashion world and this time it’s Isaac Mizrahi. The New York designer officially announced his plans to launch a signature collection of clothing and accessories for newborns and infants. His company has teamed up with bon bébé and Xcel Brands in a licensing deal to both manufacture and distribute the line.

Although he is known for his adult fashions, Mizrahi isn’t a stranger to kids fashion, in fact during the ’50′s, ’60′s and ’70′s, his father Isadore ran a a boys’ apparel line called Rydal Manufacturing.

WWD reports that Isaac Mizrahi’s new baby line will include a black and white group, that is meant to ‘be a funny take on sophisticated adult clothing”. The 25-piece infants’ collection will debut in department stores and specialty stores in fall 2012, with girls’ and boys’ clothing expected to be added down the road.

Can you even stand the cuteness?  Little Trendstar is bringing back blasts from the musical past with adorable designs on onesies, tees and long sleeve shirts.

Each article of clothing is edgy but gender appropriate and I dare you NOT to get a compliment. My son received both the ROCKABILLY and OLD SCHOOL onesies and we have had countless amounts of compliments on both pieces. They have been through the washer at least 10 times each and still look like new.

The reason why I mention this is many of my son’s onesies have begun to fade and some of the prints have come off after quite literally going through the ringer over and over again (because you know – puke happens ).

Luxury Where the Wild Things Are Max Costume ~ Katesy ~ $150.00

Hallowe’en is still a month and a half away, but after mentioning to my boys that it was just around the corner, there is plenty of costume talk happening around our home. They do not exclusively play with costumes at Hallowe’en. There are a variety of Superhero capes and other costumes frequently in use year-round.

Last year they chose they wanted to be their heroes, Batman & Robin, and I was hoping that this year they may choose something outside of the Superhero-box. However, this year they insist on being… Batman & Robin! Unfortunately last years costumes don’t fit this year, so a new batch will have to be made or purchased.

Instead of the costumes that I purchased last year, which I find cheaply made and certainly not built to last, I have decided to check out Etsy and see if I can have something made that will last longer and could be passed around. While visiting I found some great costumes I had to share!

I’ve heard and read the many raving reviews from moms who have tried Magnificent Baby’s line but it wasn’t until recently that I actually tested out one of their sleepers and was able to see what all the fuss was about.

My dear friend Elina Furman, founder and editor of AListMom.com recently collaborated with the company to create and design the gorgeous Elephants On Parade Collection. Featuring adorable elephants, solids and patterns, these sleepers are cute and classy offering a modern/chic look.

I can 100% understand why this line was named as the finalist in the NYIGF Winter ’11 Best New Product Awards competition for the Baby & Child division. I tested out the sleeper with my now 1 week old son and love the ease of use when changing him in the middle of the night. Instead of snaps, Magnificent Baby uses magnets that stay put when your child is wearing the item, yet open and close with ease.

Another bonus – my 5 year-old daughter was able to change her brother and close the ‘buttons’ all by herself. To say she was thrilled is an understatement as she finds the regular snaps on the traditional sleepers confusing.

My husband is another huge fan as he can never figure out which snap goes with which, yet with Magnificent Baby, he was able to dress his son with absolutely zero hassle. Just for the record – this was the first time he actually succeeded in dressing one of our babies!

If there was 1 must-have item I would recommend for newborns or infants, Magnificent Baby’s line of sleepers would be at the very top of my list. Baby pjs that basically fasten themselves – brilliant!

Have a look at these adorable high-tops! They are like a comfy, baby-friendly version of the popular Chuck Taylor’s by Converse. Created with soft 100% merino wool, and hand-knitted by owner Shannon Hanley of The Clever Kitty, these gorgeous high-tops would make the perfect gift for a new parent, or a great addition to any newborn shoe collection.

The line consists of five colours, which all have a unique spin to give the shoes a more vintage and stylish feel. The colours are pumpkin orange, periwinkle, black and charcoal grey, bluebird, and leaf green. They are accented with a perfectly matched ribbon as a shoe lace which stands out just enough thanks to the pattern on it.

Shopping for babies is a joy in itself and like many parents I am forever swooning at adorable dresses, little outfits and mini shoes. Although it isn’t hard to find beautiful baby clothes and tiny footwear, I’ve found that when it comes to accessories, well.. it’s a little more difficult to locate pieces that perform as they should.

For example, until the birth of my second child, I was unable to find a suitable baby hat that wouldn’t shrink down three sizes after washing. Baby socks that didn’t slide or roll off my newborn’s tiny toes seemed impossible to find and baby booties? Well, let’s just say I’ve lost many a shoe with both of my girls thanks to the countless pairs that have popped off their feet!

Luckily, after some trial, error and a whole lot of testing I came across some incredibly brands that have yet to let me down!
