ROAR 2014 Begins Now! Details On The Inaugural Social Media Retreat
As I type this from my hotel room, 30 women from across North America are boarding planes to Costa Rica in order to attend the first inaugural ROAR Retreat, “a social media retreat for professional bloggers and women who also have a major wanderlust and aren’t afraid of adventure.”
Last year during the ABC Expo in Las Vegas, an exposition that I have been attending for the past four years, I was walking the floors with my friend and colleague Andrea Fellman from Savvy Sassy Moms and threw this idea that had been on my mind for quite some time and she looked at me and said “Let’s do it!” There was no hesitation, no pause, she was in – 100%. That’s one of the great things about Andrea, she doesn’t fool around. When she says she’s going to do something, she does it and she gives it her all.
From that day forward we have both put every spare minute into the planning, organizing and pitching of this event. There was lots of sweat, a few tears and quite a few laughs, but above all it’s been a labor of love. We are both so incredibly passionate about “what’s next” in this online space and looking outside the box.
At ROAR we will bringing together leaders in the online blogging community to talk about best practices, tools, creative content, social platforms and create strategic alliances, while in an organic and truly inspiring place – Costa Rica! These women are nothing short of brilliant, some of them have built successful businesses while raising families, others have a knack for writing so beautifully it moves you to the core, we have a few photographers that can capture life around you in such a way that it brings out the very essence of that subject/person, and others have talents in many other areas of business. Each and every one of these women inspire me daily, which is why I’m so incredibly excited to learn from both the speakers and attendees!
Emily Meyer, the founder of Tea Collection will be speaking on entrepreneurship, Alison Kramer, co-author of “UnMarketing” will be speaking on social media and we have Lavinia Spalding, the author of “Writing Away” sharing her expertise, thoughts and tips on writing and travel writing.
ROAR is proof that if you have a dream and you work hard enough for it, you can make that dream come true. Don’t’ wait and don’t hesitate, jump and if you pump those wings hard enough you WILL soar!
If you’d like to follow along with us, you can search the hashtag #ROAR14 on both both on Instagram and Twitter where we will be sharing tips, tweets and photos from the Westin Resort & Spa Playa Conchal located on the Conchal Beach in Costa Rica.
I want to thank our sponsors who believed in us from the get go. They’ve supported us along the way and will provide goodies, inspiration and education to the women at ROAR. A big thank you to Invisalign, barkTHINs, SheEO, Minted, Costa Rica Tourism Board and the Westin Conchal!
Another big thanks to our attendees who put their faith in Andrea and I from the very beginning. Without you, there wouldn’t be a ROAR! SO THANK YOU!
Posts will most likely be sporadic during the week, so please be patient. We will resume regular scheduling next week!
