I’m a little bit of a health fanatic. Nothing goes in my grocery cart unless the ingredient list has been scanned and then double checked yet again. Unless it’s a whole food, chances are it won’t be coming into my home.  

Last month, I took part in a Twitter party for Healing Mix, a product that is designed for new moms postpartum, but can really be used by anyone. After reading the ingredient list (more on that in a second) I was immediately on board! I can also understand the healing concept behind this as I felt very weak after the birth of each of my three children. Childbirth takes a toll on your body and then breastfeeding requires additional nutrients, which if you aren’t ingesting will result in fatigue and exhaustion that can last for years depending on how long you breastfeed. 


Healing Mix is formulated in such a way as to regain your energy, so it’s perfect for new moms…scratch that it’s perfect for all moms! The ingredient list is formulated in such a way that it provides “the most effective carbohydrate to protein ration, 3:1 to support glycogen replenishment.” Each scoop contains over 150 mg of DHA which is 1/2 of the recommended daily intake. Add in 1200 micrograms of iron, 500 mgs of calcium and 600 mg of Vitamin C and you know why they call it a “Superfood.”
The company claims that it introduces sustained energy by stabilizing blood sugar levels, assists in reduction congestion, balances hormones, helps with lactation, provides better brain development for your baby, increases metabolism, aids in flushing toxins from the system, boosts immunity, and stronger bones. 
So, that’s all wonderful, but how does it taste?
When you open up the bag, and breath in you’ll notice a buttery, nutty scent. Everything is ground into a meal. All ingredients are organic, its a mixture of flax, oats, almonds, honey, cinnamon, wheat, butter, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, brown sugar, raisins, pine nuts and melon seeds. 
Although I enjoy coffee once in awhile and have been using it as my mid-day pick-me-up thanks to a recent work overload, my skin isn’t as excited about it. Coffee makes me breakout, so I’ve been left in an afternoon slump daily. Substituting the Healing Mix for my coffee, has proven to be effective for my low energy levels and curbs those hunger pangs. It’s satisfying and keeps you full for a couple of hours at a time. 
My girls love this mix as an after school snack and we like to mix it up with warm almond milk. It almost tastes like a liquid cookie! You can sprinkle it on oatmeal or any other cereal for added nutrition. It’s also good as an addition to smoothies or yogourt!
