Make Your Summer Sweeter With Banana Splits & Sundaes Made at Home!
If I were to tell you that my children have never had a banana split, would you believe me? It’s the truth! My husband and I used to indulge in a banana split once a month before we had kids, but somehow that tradition fell to the wayside. Until yesterday, this mind blowing dessert was completely unknown to them, as was a new magical treat.
I’d seen Smucker’s Magic Shell Topping in the stores before, but had never tried it until Smuckers sent me a bottle to test out. My kids are big chocolate fans, so we put this magical substance to the test with a pint of coconut milk ice cream.
The directions say to shake the bottle well before use and then simply drizzle or pour on your ice cream. The cold from the ice cream turns it into a crackable topping. It took about 2 minutes for the topping to completely harden, but as you can see, it really worked!
Next up, banana split! To make things cute and less indulgent, we opted for 3 small scoops of ice cream instead of 3 massive ones. If you’ve never had a banana split before, this is how you do it.
Spoon your ice cream in the middle. To keep things small, use a tablespoon as a scoop (they come out really cute this way). Then, top each scoop with Smucker’s Strawberry, Caramel and Chocolate ice cream toppings. You can find all three of these in your local grocery store ( have yet to find a store that didn’t carry them!).
At this point, the tradition would be to top everything with whipping cream and nuts, but we don’t have any cream in the house, so we used chopped walnuts and then drizzled everything with the Smucker’s Magic Shell Topping.
The result – AMAZING! Not too sweet, not too much – just right.
