Training For a Half Marathon With New Balance FreshFoam 980
I did the unthinkable this year when I agreed to run my first half marathon. One of my very good friends Audrey McClelland and I have been holding each other accountable for the past several months now and both decided to start training for a half this summer. The first race I ever ran was last year, when I completed my first 10K. So this is a pretty big deal for me!
I’ve been switching back and forth between my two pairs of New Balance shoes and just recently received a new pair to try out. The FreshFoam 980 shoes feel really, really light on my feet. So light that I was worried they wouldn’t provide the proper support, but funny enough I beat my time by a 1/2 a minute today, so I’m thinking that has something to do with it… The shoes offer a really soft and bouncy ride and my feet never felt hot (even after 4.5 miles) as the uppers are super breathable. In other words – these are the perfect running shoes for the summer months. In fact, I’m going to give them a couple of more runs before I set them aside for my half marathon. These are THE shoes.
