LeapFrog’s LeapBand: Designed To Get Kids Active While Having Fun!
When it comes to fitness trackers, there seems to be a new one popping up everywhere you look. LeapFrog just unveiled their new LeapBand, a wearable activity tracker that encourages active play and healthy habits while nurturing their very own personalized virtual pet. Instead of just tracking steps, this band gets kids moving and having fun with 50 different activities and challenges to track a child’s physical moves so the more active a child is, the more points they earn with their virtual pet.
The band is water-resistant and comes with a built-in accelerometer and rechargeable battery. As the child earns points through active play, they can unlock additional games, challenges, levels of play and virtual rewards for their on-screen pet.
LeapBand comes with eight different customizable pets – a cat, dog, dragon, monkey, panda, penguin, robot and unicorn – which can be customized by color and name. Kids can play 10 preloaded active games and challenges with access to 40 additional free challenges with their pet and unlock virtual toys and more games as they earn points.
I’m quite intrigued! My girls would really love this! The LeapBand activity tracker is designed for kids ages 4 to 7 and will retail for $39.99 beginning August 2014.
