Anchors Away! Nautical Kids Fashion Trend & Preview For Spring ’14

My family and I visited Grand Lake in Oklahoma this weekend. It was a delightful getaway full of sunshine, spring breezes…and sailboats. We stayed near Sailboat Bridge, which meant that we could watch the sailboats come in as they passed our cove. It was a beautiful site. I’ve craved the type of weather that would allow me to get my son outside and explore with him.

I thought it was fitting that we could watch the sailboats, as Henry was decked out in his nautical swim gear. I had noticed a few nautical pieces while out shopping for Henry in preparation for this trip, but it has definitely been a reoccurring theme. You can’t look anywhere without finding sailboats, anchors or nautical knots. I have to say that I am loving this trend. It reminds me of the East Coast, I’ve never been but I just know I’d love it. Boat shoes, lobster and The Hamptons, what’s not to swoon over? :)

I love that the nautical trend is a little preppy, but it still has a laid back feel to it. Your tot will look dapper, but be ready to seize the day or just relax out on the boat!

Everything about this trend is likeable, but the anchors are my favorite. They make for a fun pattern on pieces for boys and girls.

That Boden anchor polo is just the coolest. That pop of orange under the collar is perfect.

If I had a little girl I would be all over that white J. Crew anchor dress! The hot pink outline paired with the navy anchors definitely makes this dress summer-worthy and a standout piece.
So what do you say? Are you “on board” with this trend?
