Shopping Perk Alert: Amazon Prime Will Donate With Your Every Purchase

As I was adding items to my shopping cart on Amazon.com today, I noticed something interesting. Amazon Prime members can elect a preferred charity and Amazon.com will donate money to that charity for every order you place through Amazon Prime. This isn’t a new initiative, in fact it’s been around since October 2013. If you shop through smile.amazon.com – the company will donate 0.5% of your entire purchase price to your charity of choice. You’ll have the option to choose from charities such as the Red Cross, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and charity:water.

Amazon hasn’t put a cap on any of the donations and everything is eligible, so if you place a massive order, 0.5% of that will go towards something good. It’s a win-win and cleverly enough, just one more reason why you’d want to shop with Amazon.

Any group that is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization with the IRS can sign up to receive donations from AmazonSmile. Charities can sign up through org.amazon.com.
