Move In Style ~ 6 Of The Best Yoga Leggings & Workout Tights
Looking for the best yoga leggings and workout tights? You’re in luck!
On January 1st, many people begin their healthy resolutions. Whether it be diet, exercise or a clean life overhaul, the New Year tends to ignite a fire under everyone’s behind. Fitness and healthy eating is a huge part of my life and has been for most of my life, but I’ve certainly upped my fitness and exercise since becoming a mother. Pregnancy and childbirth are incredible, but they change your body and it takes time and dedication to get your body back to what it used to be.
The right workout apparel can make such a huge difference in the way you perform and feel during your class or exercise routine at home. Cute clothing that wicks away sweat and moves with you can really change your overall attitude and determination. At least it does for me!
Over the past few months I’ve become slightly obsessed with leggings. I get cold very easily and for that reason, crops just aren’t cutting it. Oh, and did I mention that it’s -35 degrees here today. Yes, that too!
Lululemon is one of my favourite companies for workout apparel. Their tanks, sweaters, tops and pants are fabulous, but they fail when it comes to their regular Wunder Under pants. Contrary to what they have said, many of their regular luon Wunder Unders are still see-through (even when you go up a size). There is no consistency with the production of these pants and for this reason they are the only item the brand produces that I refuse to buy.
If you’re in the market for a new pair of leggings for yoga, aerobics, lifting or any other sort of exercise, all seven of these pants ROCK and hold up beautifully wash after wash. That being said, I never, ever throw my leggings in the dryer! Hang to dry – always. All of the brands mentioned (except for lululemon) design quality leggings that work with you. I’ve tried a few of their other styles and have never sent a pair back, nor do I have any complaints.
If you have TJ Maxx, Marshalls or Winners close to you, check out their Activewear section. There is a brand called Kyodan that they carry regularly and all of their leggings are amazing! They are also very well priced and never run more than $30.00 (usually in and around the $19.99 or $24.99 price point). If you don’t have either of those stores close by, you can find Kyodan on eBay or you can purchase them directly through TJ Maxx’s website (US only).
Full-On Luon is the one exception to lululemon’s see through Wunder Under pant issue. These are my favourite pants and the ones that I purchased are completely opaque. They look great at the gym and work equally as well paired with a long sweater or dress. I love, love, love these pants! They don’t run cheap though! $82.00 through lululemon.com.
MPG/Mondetta makes a great pair of tights! I’ve bought a couple of discounted pairs by visiting my local Marshalls, but you can also purchase them directly through the company. They are very well made and come in some cute patterns and colours. These are great for wicking away sweat as well! Prices range from $58-$76 for a pair of MPG tights, but you can find them for $30.00 through most TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Winners stores.
Oh Athleta, how I love thee! This is a company that has one of the BEST return and exchange policies ever. If you buy something, wear it, workout in it, wash it and don’t like it (for whatever reason), you can return it no questions asked. Their tights are fantastic! I bought a cute pair of paisley pants (now sold out) as well as their Plie Leggings and wear both regularly. Great, great products and excellent leggings! Prices range from $64.00 to $84.00 for tights, but Athleta has regular 20-40% sales and coupon codes floating around. There is one in affect right now actually. Use SALE20 to receive 20% off your order until January 5, 2014.
I bought my first pair of Beyond Yoga tights through a recent Gilt.com sale and saved a bundle. These tights are amazing! They’ve received rave reviews in the yoga community. You’ll notice lots of the yoginis on Instagram wearing Beyond Yoga and they are a favourite among the celebs. You can view their wide selection of pants, tops and tanks by visiting Beyond Yoga. Another great thing about this company is that all of their apparel is made in the United States.
Last but not least is a company that I only recently learned about. Karma Apparel is based out of Vancouver, Canada and all production stays in Canada. That in itself ensures that you’re getting quality clothing! Their collections are very unique and fashionable. Their Kata Tights are gorgeous, but they have a couple of other styles and colours available if the pattern doesn’t appeal to you. Prices are definitely on the high side, the Kata tight runs in at $88.00.
