Screen Shot 2013-12-16 at 6.07.51 PMThe winter months are a time for joy and celebration as well as headache and frustration. Neither has anything to do with the other, but they go hand-in-hand thanks to the cold weather. On top of my business online, my husband and I run another together and the property is quite large. It requires quite a bit of shovelling and snow plowing daily. The side-walk itself is 200 feet long. For the past ten years my husband has been the one doing all of the snow clearing and clean-up. Before our children came along I would help him, but now with three kids in the house it’s hard for me to go outside and help – especially while running the business and trying to feed the family at the same time.

December is a month filled with celebration and busyness. It is one of the busiest times for me for travel and with my online business, yet it’s my husband, my hero who helps me through it all. I’ve had to leave 3 times this month and he’s single-handedly taken care of the business, the kids and our home. We don’t have any hired help and our family doesn’t live in close proximity, so he does it all on his own.

We are huge magic believers here as well so Santa Claus and the Elf on the Shelf are a really big thing in our house. Things have been so hectic lately that I’ve forgotten to move the Elf or “Zork” as we call him and after waking up in a mad panic, noticed that he’d already been moved – just like magic. To top it off, the food that the kids left for him “disappeared” and he’d hopped on top of the Christmas tree without anyone looking.

My husband is not just my holiday hero, he’s my year-round hero.
