Kind + Jugend 2013 Innovation Awards ~ Photos & Info On The New Products!

Kind + Jugend 2013 came and left with a bang! In addition to all of the new and exciting products that debuted, it was also the ninth year for the Kind + Jugend Innovation Awards. This is where the best products for babies and toddlers are presented with a special award. They must be innovative, and offer outstanding technology, and a high level of functionality or extraordinary design. The international jury of industry professionals, safety experts and trade journalists made the final call. In total, 183 products were presented for eight different categories. Here’s a glance at just some of the products that won.

The Mingo multi-functional toy by Educational Toy Design GmbH from Austria won in the category ‘World of Baby Toys’. Consisting of six components, there are plenty of interesting and diverse construction possibilities, which stimulate children’s creativity and fine motor skills. Whether car, scooter, horse or chair – just six components can be used to create numerous modes of transport and various pieces of seating furniture.

Kind + Jugend Innovation Award 2013 – Greentom Operations B.V. “Greentom Upp”

In the category ‘World of Moving Baby’, the Greentom Upp buggy by Dutch manufacturer Greentom Operations B.V. won first place. The most fascinating feature of this stroller is its construction. It is made entirely of recycled plastic and can thus simply be recycled again. The buggy is constructed in just three minutes and from only four materials, without the use of screws or bolts.

Kind + Jugend Innovation Award 2013 – Dorel Europe “2wayPearl”

The 2wayPearl children’s car seat from Dorel Europe came in first in the category ‘World of Travelling Baby’. The 2wayPearl is the first children’s car seat on the market to comply with the new ‘i-Size’ EU standard and offer the possibility of transporting children facing backwards up to a height of 105 cm.

Kind + Jugend Innovation Award 2013 – Baby Dan A/S “Guard Me™”

The new Guard Me™ stair guard from Danish company Baby Dan A/S is both foldable and compact. It won first in the ‘World of Baby Safety at Home’ category. The stair guard is size-adjustable in a few simple steps and can be used both at the top and at the bottom of the stairs. It folds itself up at the touch of a button, becoming almost invisible. A fun choice for small rooms.

Kind + Jugend Innovation Award 2013 – Xplorys BV “Dooky Buggy Bar”

In the category ‘World of Moving Baby & Travelling Baby Accessories’, the Dooky Buggy Bar from Dutch company Xplorys BV took 1st place. It fits between the two handles of a stroller making it possible to push with just one hand and little effort.
Kind + Jugend Innovation Award 2013 – Childhome - Aerts NV “Evolu”

In the category ‘World of Baby Furniture’, the Evolu highchair from Belgian manufacturer Childhome – Aerts NV came in first. The chair’s seat height can be adjusted to three different positions in just a few simple steps and adapted to the child’s changing requirements. The trendy design was another reason for the jury’s vote.

Kind + Jugend Innovation Award 2013 – Carriwell ApS “Seamless GelWire™ Nursing Bra”

The Seamless GelWire™ Nursing Bra by Carriwell ApS from Denmark scored with the jury in the category ‘World of Baby Textiles’. The bra has no unnecessary seams or underwiring yet still offers sufficient support.
Kind + Jugend Innovation Award 2013 – SML Success Ltd. “MilkSense”

MilkSense by SML Success Ltd. from Israel won in the category ‘World of Baby Care’. With the MilkSense, a mom can gauge the amount of milk in the breast as well as the amount of milk drunk by the baby per feeding session, without interrupting the feeding. The MilkSense displays the amount of milk drunk by the baby in real time. The measuring process takes only a few seconds and is delivered with a set of baby scales which can be connected to the MilkSense using software. An innovative technology which gives the mother more peace of mind when breastfeeding, was the jury’s verdict.
