Canada’s Wonderland For Little Kids ~ A Look At Planet Snoopy & Kidsville

canadas-wonderland

Canada’s Wonderland is Ontario’s premier amusement park. The last time I visited, I was in my teens and took on some of the more daring rides. It didn’t occur to me that this park would be suitable for little ones as I had never investigated beyond the thrilling and suspensful rides – until last month.

Planet Snoopy

Located in Vaughn, Ontario (20 minutes from Toronto and just off the Highway 400), Canada’s Wonderland offers over 330 acres of fun. Previously owned by Paramount Parks, the park was recently acquired by Cedar Point and now offers 16 roller coasters which is more than any other park outside of the USA. Turns out Canada’s Wonderland does have something for all ages. Planet Snoopy and Kidsville are two areas that are dedicated to small children. Most of the rides are even suitable for toddlers (my son is 22 months and he was able to ride many of them).

Once you arrive at the park you have to go through the metal detectors before entering. There is also a height measurement station for the kids. Once their height is determined the guest services will provide them with colored wrist bands so that the ride attendants will know whether or not they can go on the rides. I really liked this as it eliminates the need to measure your child at each and every ride.

Characters from Peanuts

Planet Snoopy features everyone’s favorite characters from Peanuts including Charlie Brown, Lucy and Linus and of course – Snoopy himself. As soon as you enter the park, there is a meet-and-greet area where the characters take turns coming out to meet the kids. There is a great photo opp here, so be sure you don’t miss out!

Planet Snoopy rides at Canada's Wonderland

The Character Carrousel was my kids’ favourite as you’ll see in the video below! Other fun rides included Lucy’s Tugboat, Sally’s Love Buggies and Snoopy’s Revolution. As we made our way through Planet Snoopy we arrived in KidZville.

Here, you’ll find even more rides and attractions for the kids. There are also a few that are suitable for the entire family.

The Parent Rest Zone is handy for nursing moms, or if you are looking for a spot to change your baby’s diaper. Nice and shady and a good place to take  a breather.

Dining options include Pizza Pizza, a fry station, fresh potato chips and other fast food options, including a diner.

Victoria Falls at Canada's Wonderland

We didn’t get a chance to venture into the water park, however that too is suitable for all ages. Caricature artists are readily available at the entrance of the park and here you’ll also find the Victoria Falls. They are gorgeous to look at and this is where the show is held.

Entertainment schedule at Canada's Wonderland

Other live entertainment such as is available throughout the day, just be sure to check the schedule when you arrive so that you can plan your day accordingly.

Canada’s Wonderland is a great spot for kids and adults of all ages. There is something for just about everyone! Hours of operation are quite generous as the park usually closes at in the summer. Everything shuts down come end of October, so be sure to head out before the season ends!
