Little Frida ~ Embroidered Mexican Peasant Dress

mexican peasant dress

Embroidered peasant dresses rank on my list of “favorite things of all time.” I have one that I bought for myself a couple of years ago that has a smocked bodice with loads of Mexican embroidery and white lace trimming the skirt. It’s been worn over and over again and the thought of it wearing out puts me into a panic.

I was looking online for a similar matching style for my girls and came across this gorgeous Little Frida dress on Etsy.

According to the seller, Mexican embroidered tunics and dresses have a sweet origin. Apparently a young woman from Easter Asia immigrated to Mexico and refused to dress like everyone elseand so she infused aspects from her homeland into rich embroidered images of flowers and birds. It quickly caught on and became a distinctive style of dress in Mexico. I’m absolutely in love with these dresses from littlepoco. They come in an assortment of various colors and would look wonderful as a tunic with jeans, as a stand alone dress or coverup.

Price: $42.00

I am looking for an embroidered mexican dress for my daughter’s wedding. We love this turquoise dress. Where can we purchase it?
