Disney Parks Kicks Off The Summer With 24 Hour “Monstrous Summer” Event

The Disney news just keeps on comin’! Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will be throwing a “Monstrous Summer” this year by keeping three of their theme parks open for 24 HOURS on Memorial Day Weekend. Can you imagine?

If you are visiting the parks in Florida or California over the holiday you can take advantage of all-day fun from 6 a.m., May 24 to 6 a.m., May 25, 2013, local time*. Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc., made the announcement in a BIG way last week when he appeared on the huge sphere of Spaceship Earth. Disney’s magic transformed the sphere into a 180-foot-tall, fully animated Mike Wazowski, the loveable green-bodied, one-eyed monster who joins best pal James P. Sullivan (“Sulley”) in the prequel to Monsters, Inc., this summer as college students with hopes of becoming Scarers.

Mike and Sulley will be the hosts of the All-Nighter and have a full line-up of thrills and entertainment planned. In Florida, at the Magic Kingdom you’ll spot Mike and Sulley as they Grand Marshals of the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” day parade. Extra entertainment throughout the day and night will include characters in their pajamas in Town Square during the late night and early morning, and late-night dance parties in and around the courtyard of Cinderella Castle.

The press release has provided all the deets!

“In California, guests can party the night away at both parks with special entertainment, including a Monsters University “TLT Monstrous” Dance Club and Star Wars characters in Tomorrowland, and late-night Character Pajama Party in Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland. The new Fantasy Faire Royal Theatre at Disneyland will become a Royal Dance Hall late at night with a live band and dancing, and guests of Disney California Adventure will find Monstrous photo opportunities with new Monsters University “Dorms” in Hollywood Land and a new Monsters University float leading the Pixar Play Parade.”

You’ll also be able to purchase specialty merchandise (all limited edition pieces) as well as new food and beverage offerings throughout the day.
