Dolls For Downs: Designed With Down Syndrome Characteristics

And Mom of the Year goes to… Connie Feda!

Feda is the mastermind behind the project Dolls for Downs which came about after she searched high and low for dolls designed with Down Syndrome characteristics. Her mission as posted on her Facebook page is to “represent children with disabilities in an honest, favorable light and give kids with disabilities a friend for life.”

These adorable dolls have been designed with the help of sculptor Karen Scott, parents of children with Down syndrome and occupational therapists. In an email to Huffington Post, Feda said “I want Hannah to see a doll with Down syndrome and see something beautiful, because that’s what I see when I look at her.”

Parents can pre-order the first dolls, named Nikki, Ellie, Hannah, Grace and Aziza, on the Dolls for Downs website. The project is set to launch May 1st and prices start at $75.00.
