We’ve been waiting with baited breath for the announcement on Royal Caribbean’s “Project Sunshine” announced earlier last year. RCL has been very mum on details until this week when they announced the names of their new Quantum Class of ships. Quantum of the Seas, set to debut in fall 2014, and Anthem of the Seas, which will follow in spring 2015.
The announcement came on the heels of a major step in the development of the cruise ships when the first piece of steel was cut for the first of two Project Sunshine ships in Papenburg, Germany at the Meyer Werft shipyard.
Royal Caribbean is known for introducing many ‘sea firsts’ such as ice skating rinks, surf simulators, rock-climbing walls, zip lines and even a tropical park with over 12,000 live plants. I can only imagine what they will come up with next, but it sounds BIG!
Stay tuned for additional details on Quantum of the Seas as they are revealed over the coming months!
