5 Must Have Beauty Products When Traveling To Cold Climates

Thinking about a ski holiday? Maybe visiting the Great White North? Skating along the famous Rideau Canal in Ottawa? You should! But don’t forget to arm yourself with these 5 cold weather beauty products before you do because cold weather can wreak havoc on your hair and skin!

Avene Cold Cream Lip Balm

In cold weather, your lips are the first to feel the effects. As a girl who has tried every lip balm known to man, I can say without a doubt this is the best on the market. Available at Skinstore.com. $12

Static Guard

Wait a second, that’s not a beauty product? Not until you take your hat of course and it looks like you stuck your finger in an electric socket. Then it becomes a beauty product. Spray a little on your hairbrush and run through your hair and you’ll look beautiful again, not scared out of your wits. Available at most drugstores. Around $2.70 for a travel size.

Evian Facial Spray

People who travel a lot will tell you this is the best thing you can have with you on a plane to keep your skin soft and hydrated. Same theory applies in the cold weather. It’s dry outside and it’s dry inside, and that is really hard on your face. Keep one of these in your purse at all times and spray a little on your face whenever you feel your skin getting tight. Warning: Do this inside, unless you like icicles on your chin. Available at Sephora.Com. $14 for two travel sizes.

Crabtree & Evelyn 60 Second Fix

A friend gave this to me one year as a gift and it remains my all-time favourite hand treatment for cold weather. A quick scrub gets rid of any dry, flaky skin and then a rich moisturizer makes yours hands feel and look like silk. Magic. I love La Source but there are several scents available. Available at Crabtree & Evelyn stores and online. $15

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Daily Anti-aging Primer with Sunscreen

Think you only need sunscreen when heading south? Wrong. In fact you need it more in the north. The sun’s reflection off of snow can cause harsh burns, so be prepared. I like this sunscreen from La Roche-Posay because it’s not only a sunscreen but a fantastic primer under your make-up. Available at Skinstore.com. $39.50

Finally, don’t forget to pack your thermal underwear. Not a beauty product, but you won’t regret it!
