It’s That Time Again ~ The Season Of Gifting Others #OCCGiving

It’s that time of year again. November is the month that my kids and I head to the shops and purchase toys and gifts for a child in need. It’s a time that reminds my girls to display compassion, kindness and selfLESSness. Instead of the “Me, Me, Me” attitude displayed so often, my girls are reminded that there are so many children less fortunate than them.

It is actually something that I’ve been trying to put into practice this year more than ever. The fact of the matter is – my children are privileged. They have more than I or my husband ever had growing up and although I am grateful that we’ve been able to provide well for them, it also makes me nervous.

I want my children to love the act of giving even more than receiving. This is just one of the reasons why I love Operation Christmas Child. Founded by Samaritan’s Purse, this program provides boxes filled with gifts to children living in dire conditions.

Let me show you how it works.

First you visit Operation Christmas Child and print out your labels. You can cut out the label you choose (boy or girl) and select the age range which you have decided to gift.

Next you take an empty shoe box.

Then you wrap it up (this is optional, but I think every gift should be wrapped so ;).

Fill it with all your goodies!

Next place $7 (payable by check or credit card) to cover shipping costs and affix your label. Place a rubber band around each closed shoe box and drop it off at the collection center nearest you during collection week, November 12-19, 2012.

If you don’t have time to purchase your own goodies, you can Build-a-Box virtually through Samaritan’s Purse.

I hope you take this opportunity to have a little fun and give back. It is one of our favorite times of the year ;).

This holiday season build a box with your family to teach kindness, compassion, and generosity.

Operation Christmas Child and influencer marketing platform BlogFrog have teamed up with 200 bloggers like me to spread the word about this great cause.

BlogFrog will match the first 200 boxes that are built. Pledge your commitment below to build a box today on Facebook or Twitter!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Operation Christmas Child. The opinions and text are all mine.

Love this idea. My church does a toy drive that is similar. Thanks for this reminder!
