Gas ~ The Expensive Side Of Family Travel & Why I Choose A Certain Station Over Others

I need to start buying stock in Shell. No, I’m serious. I’ve been funding them 2x a week for the entire year. This spring, summer and fall have been filled with heavy car travel. From school and activity drop offs to grocery runs and road trips, our family vehicle has had quite the workout this year!

When it comes to gas stations, Shell is my number one choice because they accept Air Miles. We’ve been Air Mile gold members for three years in a row now and get frequent bonus offers for sponsors that we visit often. The miles build up and then we are able to cash them in for flights, tickets or other fun stuff.

In addition to the Air Miles, Shell tends to throw fun contests and campaigns that are beneficial in some way. Their latest is a really good one and helps you save on your purchases. From now until November 11, 2012, use ANY BMO CashBack MasterCard and you will save 5 cents on every dollar spent on all purchases at Shell of $45 or more. If you don’t have that specific MasterCard and want to apply, you can get up to $50 in CashBack rewards after your first card purchase.

Shell is celebrating this special offer with the Shell Give Me 5 Contest. Just visit the contest website for a chance to win daily prizes and the grand prize of $5,000 of Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines. Just visit their site online, hunt through their virtual Shell station to search for hidden ballots to enter. You can enter each day to win prizes.

Hint: if you seen an item glow, click on it!

In celebration of this contest, Shell is offering Child Mode readers a chance to win $100 gift card. Details are below.

We love our top-tier gas, even when road-tripping, and Shell is our favorite. We did a 4,000 mile road-trip in late spring that wouldn’t have been the same without them!

I drive many times a week to the activites for the kids and it is the only place I gas up as well, because of the airmiles, they do add up quickly.

Probably once a month, but most of the road trips are to go visit family 1 1/2 hours away. Other road trips, maybe twice a year! I collect airmiles!

Periodic road trips to visit family once/twice a month. For the long adventurous hauls usually plan for those every July or August depending on work schedules. I absolutely do collect Air Miles – prescription pick up @ Safeway, ToysRUs and Boston Pizza reward us nicely with Air Mile Points. Great giveaway thanks for the chance.
