Brilliant New Concept For Luggage Designed For Babies & Toddlers

The Whaletale is a concept created by Day Kim, a student at California College of Arts who developed the project in response to an assignment on “transformation and transition.” After interviewing travelers and researching the way people travel, she came up with a piece of luggage that is just perfect for families. The result won the studen prize in Core77 Design Awards’ soft-goods category. So what is this brilliant product we are talking about? The Whaletale is essentially an easy-to-clean blanket that can attach to existing to wheeled carry-on luggage.

When unfolded you have a soft sanitary area for parents and children to sit and play on. Although it is quite large, it is still sized withouth “being invasively big for others at the terminal.” The blanket is made from a waterproof ripstop nylon for the bottom with a soft neoprene on the top.

What do you think of this new design? Is it something you would consider purchasing for your family?
