Rebecca Minkoff Designs For Good With New Bravado Nursing Tanks Benefitting Baby Buggy

I love collaborations, especially when they happen between two companies that I adore. And when that partnership helps women in need? It becomes even more perfect.

Earlier this week, I attended the launch of two new tanks designed by Rebecca Minkoff for Bravado Designs. This unique partnership is really a match made in heaven. The nursing bra company that I’ve been faithful during and after the birth of all three of my children joins forces with my favorite hand bag designer? Too good to be true!

It gets even better.

Bravado Designs has made a significant commitment to help support the work of Baby Buggy through this partnership. 20% of all sales from the Luca and Indy tops will be donated back to Baby Buggy. In addition, Bravado Designs will also donate a new bra or tank to a mother in need for each Limited Edition tank purchased.

The tanks are simple yet timeless. I’m in love with both, but the Luca is my favorite.

I had a chance to sit down and chat with Rebecca for a one-on-one interview and she gave us some information on the inspiration behind the tanks as well as upcoming news on some exciting new Rebecca Minkoff designs

CM: Tell us about this fabulous collaboration and what inspired you to design and name the tanks in the way that you did.

RM: After I gave birth, I tweeted that I had my son and Bravado reached out to me and offered to send me some bras. I was completely unprepared as I had my son a week early so it was a saving grace that the bras arrived when they did. I’ve been wearing them ever since!

As I already had an affinity for the brand (Bravado) and was also a member of Baby Buggy, this collaboration seemed like a really great fit. When Bravado came up with the idea to design a tank top, I knew exactly what I wanted to create. Most tanks are usually boring so I wanted to do something a little different, something that you could show off so we did the color blocking. I figured that once you are done nursing you could wear it as a workout tank. The Luca is named after my son and the Indy is named after my nephew.

CM: This isn’t the first time that you’ve ventured into the Mom & Baby sphere as you have designed baby bags in previous years. Are you planning on designing any new diaper bags?

RM: It’s interesting because now that I’m a mom I’m designing my baby bags differently now. I currently have about 10 in the works that we are trying to perfect and I also made something called the Luca pouch which transforms your regular bag into a diaper bag. It is just a nylon pouch that you can pop into your Prada, Celine or Rebecca Minkoff bag and pull it out when you are done.

CM: Can you give us some hints on what to expect for Spring Summer 2013?

RM: Lots of bright colors as usual. 15 new silhouettes and a collaboration with Stellé Audio. We’ve created a clutch that turns into a jam box. It has a wireless Bluetooth speaker inside. That will come out early December.

(As you can see I was positively beaming. I adore Rebecca Minkoff. Or have I said that already….)
