Receiving blankets are in a category all their own. I have a closet full of these blessed cloths and yet surprisingly they have been on rotation since the day my eldest daughter was born. Most people associate receiving blankets with newborns and as a necessity in the home/hospital room after baby is born, but the truth is there are so many other uses for these blankets.
When traveling I am always sure to have 2 stored in my diaper back and a couple of spares in my vehicle. Wash after wash, these breathable cotton blankets just get softer the more you use them. Since the fabric is so great for baby’s skin, I cut up some of my older ones, serged the edges and used them as reusable baby wipes when I was cloth diapering my babies. They were super soft and washed up nicely. I also made a few additional ‘wipes’ for myself as I find the fabric gentler than my usual makeup wipes.
