Clek’s Olli ~ Our Review Of The Updated Belt Positioning Booster

I’ve always admired Clek’s line of car seats and boosters. During the ABC Kids Expo, I took a look at the gorgeous colorways and checked out the cushioning everyone raves about. The boosters were displayed upright though and since I’m not exactly a ‘kid’ I was unable to test them out myself.

Over the last couple of months we have taken a few road trips with the kids and during those trips we tested out the new updated Olli. The Olli is a belt-positioning backless booster suited for children ages 6-12. The seat boosts your child’s height, ensuring that your vehicle’s seat belt fits just right.

My daughter was in a car seat/booster before we received the Olli, however she is quite tall for her age and is always bugging me to sit in the regular seat like me. Of course given her age, that is impossible, but the Olli is definitely the next best thing. My daughter was absolutely thrilled with this seat and loved that she was able to use the seat belt ‘just like mama’.

Installation is the simplest thing ever. The Clek LATCH system locks the booster seat into place with one click by using your vehicle’s LATCH anchorage system. LATCH comes standard in some vehicles manufactured in 2001 and 2002, but not all vehicles received the upgrade until 2003. If your vehicle is not equipped with LATCH, you can still use the booster unlatched.

The fabric is very easy to clean as well and can be removed and washed in the machine. It is actually a Crypton Super Fabric that provides stain, moisture and bacteria resistance. One of the many great perks of the Olli is the extra padding it provides for your child’s behind. Have you ever experienced ‘numb bum’? Thanks to the extra layer of molded padding, your child won’t. It is very firm, yet cushioned and keeps it’s shape even after hours and hours in the car.

Another great feature is the removable cup holder. There is a pocket on the side of the seat is that allows you to sleep the holder in or remove it if needed. Like say, if your child spills juice all through the inside… The ease of removability makes it easier to carry around as well.

The “Strap-Thingy” (yes that is its actual name) comes with the seat – very handy if you have plans on toting through an airport!

After 3 road trips and countless hours in the car, I can honestly say this is my eldest daughter’s personal favourite. It makes her feel more grown up to use the seat belt and the comfort level of the seat itself is quite high.

My favorite prints are the Paul Frank julius hearts me and Paul Frank signature julius. They are gender neutral and oh so fashionable. There is also a Limited Edition Black Leather ‘Cooper’ version and 4 solid colors.

You can purchase the seat online or search their site for a retailer close to you.

Price: ranges from $99.99-$149.99
