BabyBjorn Founder Is Awarded With H.M. The King’s Medal At The Royal Palace In Stockholm

Bjorn Jakobson, the Founder and CEO if BabyBjorn received quite the honor yesterday from the King of Sweden himself! Bjorn was awarded with H.M. The King’s Medal (12th size with bright-blue ribbon) for significant contributions to Swedish industry. His Majesty the King awarded him with the medal in person, in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen, at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. Bjorn Jakobson’s wife Lillemor Jakobson, head designer at BabyBjorn, also attended the ceremony.

H.M. The King’s Medal, which bears a picture of The King, was created in the 19th century. It is awarded to Swedish and foreign citizens for outstanding contributions.

After the ceremony, Bjorn Jakobson said:

“It’s a great honor to receive His Majesty The King’s medal and recognition. Above all, it is an encouragement to continue our work to develop safe and functional baby products. Now I am even more inspired,”

The 77 year-old designer and entrepreneur had a clear vision in 1961 – to make everyday life easier for families with small children by developing safe and innovative products of the highest quality. He certainly achieved his goal! Today, over 30 million babies have been carried in the infamous BabyBjorn baby carrier!
