First Hand Look At The ‘Royal Suites’ At Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort

While visiting Disney World last month and after checking out their incredible new Art of Animation Resort, I was incredibly excited to take a peek at the newly renovated rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside, one of the ‘Moderate’ resorts at Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort fits in the budget of families who are looking to save a little on accommodations and offers a relaxed ‘Southern’ feel. The resort is inspired by rural Louisiana and located alongside the Sassagoula River so you can really feel that inspiration throughout the grounds.

This is actually one of the many reasons why we adore Walt Disney World. The resorts are all so unique and different, offering you a brand new experience each and every time you visit.

During a special press preview, my family and I had a chance to meet with Princess Tiana and enjoyed a delicious tea party complete with finger sandwiches, fruits, cookies and cool drinks while surrounded by a live musical band.

Since we had never stayed at this particular resort before (we usually stay at the Deluxe Resorts), I was intrigued with their newly introduced Royal Guest Suites that debuted in March 2012. Although I had visualized the rooms by looking the renderings and heard quite a bit about them, it’s always different when you are able to experience something one-on-one.

The revamped rooms have been dressed up to offer a Royal feel that is inspired by several Disney classic films. Obvious features include custom linens and draperies, artwork featuring the princes and princesses and many ‘hidden’ features as well.

It’s so fun to watch your kids discover these hidden treasures over time as you can’t possibly see them all at once or at first glance. In fact, I’m sure I missed a few myself.

The bathroom design is super fun and incorporates the Genie’s magic lamp from “Aladdin” as the faucet.

Fiber-optic effects are found on the headboards and can be switched on and off. Look closely and you’ll notice crowns from your favourite Disney princesses woven in the bedspreads. 🙂

The new rooms sleep four and are moderately priced from $189 per night.

*Thank you to Disney for inviting and hosting my family and I for the sponsored Summer To Remember Press Event.*
