Art of Animation Resort ~ A Sneak Peek At Disney’s Brand New Resort Hotel

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is the newest property opening at Walt Disney World in Orlando, with a grand opening date of May 31st, and we have full sneak peek look at the resort and what it has to offer. If you are familiar with Walt Disney World, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is located adjacent to Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

Opening May 31st, this ‘Value’ property is one of the more affordable options at Walt Disney World and offers some pretty impressive perks for larger families. We had a chance to take a look at their Finding Nemo Wing, the first of four phases to open this year. Driving up to the resort, you are welcomed by huge playful characters at the entrance.

Once inside, you become full immersed in the animations from the beginning, middle and end.

As you can see it is very colourful! There are pencil drawings of Nemo, Simba, Ariel and Lightning McQueen in the entryway.

One of the most interesting pieces I found was the chandelier made up of animation storyboards.

The walls of the lobby are finished like giant sketchbooks from the animators.

This may be a Value Resort, but it boasts the largest resort swimming pool at Walt Disney World Resort with its “Big Blue” pool measuring 11,859 square feet. My kids adored the splash pad where they were able to explore the colourful reef with a giant-sized Mr. Ray (his wings alone span 27 feet) and Crush. There are also two additional pools on property.

I had a chance to take a look at the suites which are great for larger families and sleep up to 6. In addition to the bedroom, you have a pull-out sofa bed and a wall bed, which folds into the wall when not in use. You have to see the demo in the video below as it is such a fun and smart concept.

The rooms are decorated to tie into the storyline with coral-shaped chairs, bubble ceiling lights and other fun features taken from the movies.

There will be 1,120 of these family suites all of which include two bathrooms and a kitchenette. The 864 standard rooms sleep four. Rates will start at $94 for the standard rooms and  $249 for the suites.

The Finding Nemo wing will hold their grand opening May 31, Cars opens June 18, The Lion King opens Aug. 10 and The Little Mermaid wing, the final phase is to open on Sept. 15.

Full Disclosure: We were invited to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. Walt Disney World offered a special discounted rate for all attendees and their families. This is a once in a lifetime experience and we are grateful to Disney for allowing us to participate. We’ll be sharing unique things seen and heard throughout the Celebration. Please keep in mind these our own personal thoughts and opinions, not those of the Walt Disney Company.

I love this new resort! My favorite part is the Finding Nemo rooms where Marlin and Nemo are hiding under the Murphy Bed. Too cute!
