Food Friday Featuring: Kashi’s New Line Of Cereal & Crackers

If you know me personally you will already know that I am basically a health freak. Yes, I said it ;). 90% of all the food we eat is made from scratch, I am an advocate for whole foods and feed my kids green smoothies and juices on a daily basis.

That being said there is a brand that I trust when I need a quick snack that is healthy and doesn’t require me getting dishes dirty. Kashi. This company is one that has a great track record for providing great tasting, nutritious foods that help people add nutrients to their diet. This month, Kashi is introducing three new products to their fantastic line-up of cereals and healthy snacks. I was planning on taking pictures of the products first-hand, but we were too busy eating them all to remember.

I will admit I was hesitant to try the new Toasted Cinnamon Crisp Cereal because of the sugar content, however this one is not bad at all. Unlike sugary boxed cereals, this one is rich in protein, whole grains, fibre and is low in sugar and saturated fat. Each 3/4 cup serving provides 9 grams of fibre, 10 grams of protein, 19 grams of whole grain and 5 essential nutrients. The kids loved it as did I.

Kashi Pita Crisps are amazing and taste fantastic with guacamole, salsa or hummus. We had a chance to try out the new Original 7 Grain with Sea Salt and Zesty Salsa. The kids preferred the Sea Salt variation as the Zesty Salsa was a bit spicy for them, whereas I prefered the Salsa variation. The flavor was very fresh as opposed to that ‘powdered flavor’ we are so used to with packaged snacks. I was quite impressed.

Kashi Snack Crackers are extremely wholesome and fibre rich as they are made using Kashi’s Seven Whole Grains & Sesame blend. The Fire Roasted Vegetable and Toasted Asiago are both fantastic.

As soon as these products hit supermarket shelves you can be sure that they will be a regular staple in our house! Canadians can check out http://www.kashi.ca for more info or if you live in the States – http://www.kashi.com.
