U.S. National Parks Offer Free Entrance Days Throughout 2012

The U.S. National Park Service has brought back a great incentive for 2012. Travelers, families and kids looking to discover the beautiful National Parks in the United States (as if we would need one ;) can take advantage of several fee-free days at more than 100 national parks that usually charge entrance fees.

Mark your calendar for these fee-free dates in 2012:

  • January 14-16
  • Martin Luther King Jr. weekend
  • April 21-29
  • National Park Week
  • June 9
  • Get Outdoors Day
  • September 29
  • National Public Lands Day
  • November 10-12
  • Veterans Day weekend

To make your travels even more affordable, the National Park Hospitality Association and National Parks Promotions Council are offering additional discounts and special offers from neighboring businesses and park partners. Keep in mind, that not ALL of the 397 U.S. parks charge entrance fees. This is just a great promotion for those parks that do.

I really wish they would implement something like this in Ontario! Our local park charges a daily rate for visitors, which is a tad annoying when you are a local and live down the street. Walking in is free, but if you have a vehicle, they charge. Needless to say, my kids and I get a fare workout every year ;-).
