Kids’ Fashion Preview: Marithé+François Girbaud: Spring/Summer 2012

Marithé+François Girbaud is known for their quirky and quite interesting designs, but this year they’ve taken a bit of a different approach and I LIKE it! Come to think of it, I’m really, really enjoying any and all things related to Summer right now, but that is besides the point.

For Spring/Summer 2012, Marithé+François Girbaud has mixed military and university influences with more flexible and feminine shapes for voile and embroidered tulle skirts with flounces. Maxi checks have been applied on cotton blouses and cotton/linen twill skirts for a bit of a retro look.

You’ll also notice quite a bit of overstitching, Lurex, Mylar prints and embroidery. Lots of denim and white with touches of gold and light blue livening them up.

There are several poetic looks as well with long skirts and dresses in white, black and grey shades, enhanced with a touch of silver. Strapless dresses and ramie blouses, casual satin/cotton shorts, over-sized tees and polyester parkas offer pops of white, nougat and orange.

Love the boyish charm and a rock n’ roll twist of this collection!
