A Unique “Playable Piece Of Art” To Be Built In Atlanta’s Woodruff Park

On November 1, the leading commercial play equipment manufacturer in the world will unveil a playground or as they like to call it “an innovative playable piece of art” during the National Recreation and Park Association Congress and Exposition. Landscape Structures Inc. has created a sculpture that is an actual work of art which allows children to interact in numerous ways.

Jeff Santos of Coquitlam, British Columbia, the winner of the Playable 10 Contest was the first person to dream up the design. Paying tribute to Atlanta with a shape that mimics the letters “ATL”, the design has various playable elements built into it including climbing walls, monkey bars and two different sizes of slides.

“I wanted the playground to have a unique shape, but also be inviting to children.” Santos said. “The design really plays to kids’ imagination and curiosity.”\

The playground is slated to be installed in Woodruff Park in spring 2012.
