Missoni For Target Collection – Did You Miss Out? Here’s A Look At The Goods!

We knew the Missoni for Target collection would be a big hit (that was a no brainer), however the launch was so popular, most stores sold out completely and Target’s website crashed from an overload of traffic. The Missoni collection was available on Target.com at around 6 a.m. Tuesday and then the site went down around 9 a.m. and stayed down (except for minute intervals) throughout the day.

The store released a statement saying:

“Due to an overwhelming amount of traffic to Target.com as a result of the Missoni launch this morning, guests are unable to access the site. Providing a positive shopping experience to our guests is important to us and we are working to get the site back up as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Not only did shoppers snap up the items, they are now making a pretty penny off of them. Here we are one day later and there isn’t much left from the coveted collection unless you want to pay $200 for a $39.99 throw on eBay. Also, remember that 3 speed bike (pictured in the slideshow below), it is now listed on Craiglist for $1,500. Unreal…

The Missoni for Target pieces that were being offered at such a low price are now being sold for up to five times their original price. CNN spoke to Alexandra Greenawalt, a New York-based fashion stylist who says there is something about these collaborations that is infectious.

“Previous collaborations with designers including Zac Posen, Rodarte and Thakoon have also resulted in lucrative second-market sales, but not to this extent.”

We were super excited to see the kids’ extension of this collaboration – which you can view here – and I am feeling a little jealous of all the parents who picked up some of those gorgeous pieces. The lady’s line is just as cute. You can view some of the most popular looks in the slideshow below.

The Missoni for Target collection will be available (pending availability) through October 22nd. Although I doubt very much that the pieces will last that long!
