Britax Debuts The New FRONTIER® 85 SICT Combination Harness-2-Booster™ Seat

Just last week, Britax announced the arrival of their new advanced combination booster seat equipped with Side Impact Cushion Technology™ – the FRONTIER® 85 SICT Combination Harness-2-Booster™ Seat. This new seat has taken all of the great features from the Frontier XT and added in this great technology, thus reducing crash force energy by 45 percent. The seat also features BRITAX True Side Impact Protection® technology which includes deeper side walls, and works to distribute crash forces, shield from vehicle intrusion, contain the head and body, and keep the head, neck and spine aligned.

FRONTIER® 85 SICT offers the highest harnessed weight and height capacity available, allowing children to remain in a five-point harness up to 85 pounds with a seated shoulder height of up to 20 inches. It is great for children who are ready to graduate into a booster, but still require the safety that a five-point harness provides. The seat is suitable for children who are at least two years of age and 25 lbs, and as a belt-positioning booster, the seat can accommodate children up to 120 pounds and 65 inches tall.

The FRONTIER 85 SICT comes in three fashions and will be available at independent and mass retailers in June 2011. The suggested retail price is $339.99.

I just love this brand. Already have 1 Britax car seat that my 2 1/2 year old has been in since 4 months. Exiting the freeway, I was hit broadside by an Acura. It slammed into my back left door, just next to my sleeping baby. Great car seat- he never even woke up.

Looks like the same seat as the Regular Frontier 85 to me with the only new thing being the new added side protection and easier to remove cover! I wonder if Britax will offer some kind of retro fitting kit to install these new sides to the my existing Frontier 85!!?? While you can never put a price on your child’s safety at $339 Britax is just Soaking people for simply a little extra side protection that at production cost probably costs them hardly anything to produce!! I have not seen any mention either about what kind of material is used inside this new side impact protection to the seat! For all I know it is simply cheap plastic filled with foam and hardly seems worth an extra $100! Final thoughts: I’m not about to go running out to the store to spend over $100 more for this new addition!! My existing Frontier 85 is more than adequate! While this seems like a very nice addition to the seat adding $100 to the price tag does not do it for me!! I would consider a reasonably priced retro fitting kit to my existing seat! I also feel that Britax should simply start making this new addition standard on their Frontier 85’s!! It’s wrong to Extort People for their child’s safety!!!
