Lanvin To Design New Luxury Clothing Line For Children!

Talk about exciting news!!

Lanvin is taking its house emblem of mother and daughter literally and have announced their plans to introduce Alber Elbaz’s first designs for children alongside its resort collection. The announcement couldn’t be more fitting as Jeanne Lanvin, who founded Lanvin in 1909, gained her reputation by designing clothes for mothers and daughters early in her career. She sketched designs for tots until 1935!

Earlier today, WWD reported that the 25-piece introductory line, for girls ages 4 to 10, will be produced in-house with a “superluxury approach,” according to Lanvin’s executive vice president Thierry Andretta.

“It’s a way to translate the universe of Lanvin ready-to-wear to the world of kids,” he said in an interview, noting the collection would span dresses, T-shirts, coats, sweaters and accessories.

These pieces are going to be super luxurious and will reflect Elbaz’s ultrasophisticated approach. Fabrics used in the collection have been confirmed to cost as much as 10 times more than those normally used in children’s apparel.

Thierry Andretta stressed the fact saying, “We really want to stay in the luxury world.”

The line will only be offered to a maximum of 80 wholesale customers and will be featured in the largest Lanvin boutiques as well as in their flagship stores in Paris, Beijing, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, New York and Milan.

The collection will officially be unveiled in New York, mid-June, selling later in Milan and Paris showrooms. Deliveries are to start in late November for the spring 2012 season.
