Review: Maclaren Volo – The Lightest, Quality Travel Stroller

Just before my family and I embarked on our Disney Cruise back in January, we were sent the Maclaren Volo to test out. Now, I am no stranger to the Volo as it was the second umbrella stroller I had tried with my first daughter, however the latest model has received a few updates which I found to be quite satisfactory.

If you aren’t familiar with the Volo, you are in for a treat. Designed by Maclaren, this stroller is one of the lightest (8 lbs) on the market and the easiest to tote around – especially while traveling! Whether you are scurrying in and out of airport security with a baby by yourself (been there) or on a family vacation trying to juggle carry-ons and two little ones (been there too), the Volo is ideal.

In comparision to the 2006 model, Maclaren Volo has updated the mesh structure of the seating, making for a more comfortable sitting arrangement. The colors have been modified as well, so instead of the grey color base with colored trim, the stroller’s canopy is solid. Personally, I really prefer the look and find it is more appealing to the eye!

Suitable from 6 months and up, the Volo is only 8 lbs, offers a one-handed fold (lifesaving when you are in a rush), full canopy, aluminum frame, foot brake, extremely secure 5-point harness and rain cover.  The one thing I didn’t like, was that there is no recline with this model. Although it doesn’t really matter for quick runs, it would have been nice to have the option when my daughter was tired.

In regards to the ride, the Maclaren Volo is super smooth. This is NOT your cheapy umbrella stroller that’s for sure! The bump-free ride was a surprise when I first tested it originally, as you don’t expect such quality in a lightweight umbrella stroller. My husband loved the shoulder strap as it allows him to transport the stroller easily and hands free.

All-in-all I love the Maclaren Volo and think it is one of the best travel strollers out there. If you are looking for something that is lightweight and high-quality, you won’t be dissapointed.
