Royal Wedding Details: Catherine’s Wedding Gown, The Bridesmaid’s Dresses & Who Designed Them

Introducing Prince William and Catherine Middleton!

In the Fairy Tale wedding of the year, Prince William and Kate (now going by Catherine) wed at the beautiful Westminster Abbey amongst their family and friends. If you are one of the 2 billion people watching (as I was) you’ll know it was certainly THE fairy tale event of the year. I sat on my couch enjoying the celebrations with a cup of Earl Grey tea and a toasted crumpet. 😉

Prince William wore a Scarlet Irish Royal Guard uniform and Catherine wore a stunning Grace Kelly style dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Her gown was perfect in every way imaginable. The Ivory gown featured an elegant lace applique bodice with 9 ft of train. Individual flowers hand-cut from lace were hand engineered onto the ivory silk tulle. The veil was made from layers of soft silk tulle with hand emboriered flowers and the tiara was lent to Catherine by The Queen.  The diamond ‘halo was designed by Cartier in 1936 and presented to Her Highness on her 18th birthday as a gift by her own mother.

The pear-shaped diamond earrings were designed by Robinson Pelham, inspired by Middleton‘s new coat of arms.

The Maid of Honor Pippa Middleton (Catherine‘s sister) wore a dress also designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and the four bridesmaids wore gowns designed by Nicki Macfarlane. The British designer is an expert and creating exceptional outfits for bridesmaids, flower girls and pageboys.

The bridesmaids in the wedding party included.

  • William‘s first cousin on his father’s side, Lady Louise Windsor, 7, the daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
  • The Hon. William‘s second cousin, Margarita Armstrong-Jones, 8. This is the same little girl that William swung into the air as he walked to church for Christmas Day service in 2006. She is the daughter of Viscount and Viscountess Linley.
  • The granddaughter of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Eliza Lopes, 3. This little girl is the daughter to Laura, Camilla‘s only daughter from her previous marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles.
  • Prince William‘s godchild Grace van Cutsem, 3.

The handsome Pageboy was none other than 8-year-old  Tom Pettifer, Prince William’s godson.  This little boy is the son of William’s former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke, who took care of William and Henry in the 1990s. She still remains quite close with both men.

David and Victoria Beckham were among the many guests at the Royal Wedding. Victoria hid her baby bump well in a midnight blue outfit designed by her for her own Fall/Winter collection. She accessorised the outfit with Christian Louboutin heels and a Phillip Treacey hat. David Beckham wore a purple label Ralph Lauren suit.
