Tutu Du Monde: Magical Dresses & Stunning Tutus From Down Under

There once was a little girl who became so enamoured by a dress, she cried actual tears when it was time to take it off. That little girl, just happens to be my eldest who is as smitten as I am with Tutu Du Monde. This Australian company has brought fairytales to life with the most stunning dresses and tutus that are so beautiful you would swear they had a little bit of magic sewn in.

Unlike the polyester pieces that are so very mass-prodced these days, Tutu Du Monde hand-dyes and hand makes the cotton and tulle pieces and has created a look that gives off an old-world feel. Dusty pastels make up the colour palette and subtle details such as sequins, beads and feathers are sewn on to add a touch of charm.

Andrea Rembeck is the mom behind the brand and before starting up the company, enjoyed a career in the Australian fashion industry working for labels such as Fleur Wood and Collette Dinnigan. She decided to create her own label for children, when her daughter asked for her own tutu:

“For me, a greener and more sustainable future is an imperative – rather than a political – position. I wanted to create a tutu that left a light footprint.”

Our favorite piece is the Petal tutu. The dip dye effect is simiply dreamy and I love the silk organza petals and bead embellishments. Some of the dresses, such as the Galaxy Tutu are a great choice for casual weddings. What I love the most about these dresses is the stretchy camisole. They can easily be adjusted, leaving a bit of room for the growing child.
