Disney Is China Bound – Again! Disneyland Shanghai Could Start Construction In May

According to new reports from China, construction of the Disneyland Shanghai could start as early as May 2011! Set to open in 2015, China’s newest Disney attraction will be located about 13 miles southeast of Shanghai and will be the second park to open in China, joining Disneyland in Hong Kong.

The three parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Epcot) are planned to be spread over 2.7 miles. Phase one of the project is worth an estimated $3.7 billion!

For the older kids, China’s World of Warcraft theme park in the Wunjin district is said to be opening sometime this spring. Although most people thought the very existence of this videogame-themed park was a hoax in itself, news outlets have recently confirmed the news.

I’m sorry if you found the title misleading. I am quite aware that there is a Disneyland in Hong Kong, but there will also be a new one in Shanghai and that is new news ;).
