Disney Dream The Christening: Details On How You Can Be A Part Of This Exciting Event!
I’m going to let you in on a little surprise, one that I’ve been keeping for a couple of months although I’ve been bubbling with excitement since. Disney sent us an exciting package in the mail just before Christmas – a treasure chest, complete with a telescope and a letter written on a scroll-like parchment informed our family that we were invited to the Christening of Disney Cruise Line’s new ship the Disney Dream! Now, as you know we are extremely excited about the arrival of the Dream and have been writing about the many incredible features this ship has to offer! Thanks to Disney, my family and I will be flying to Orlando tomorrow and will be headed to Disney World and then aboard the Dream for a taste of her magic.
Set to debut on its maiden voyage Jan. 26, 2011, the Disney Dream will feature a cruise-industry first, an on board water coaster! Entitled the AquaDuck, this 765 feet long, translucent high-speed ride is sure to provide a thrill! Guests will be looking down on the ocean 150 feet below, while sliding 13 feet over the side of the ship in a see-through loop. While high-powered jets push thrill seekers upwards and forwards at 20 feet per second, the AquaDuck will continue through, encountering a 335 foot stretch of river rapids, ending on Deck 12 with a splash. Talk about roller coaster thrills!
Other features include: magical portholes in inside staterooms that provide guests with a real-time view outside the ship, rotational dining in elaborately-themed restaurants, Disney-infused children’s spaces and more!
I will be tweeting pictures and posting updates on Twitter, uploading videos on YouTube and writing as much as I can while away. If you would like to be a part of this exciting event with us virtually, be sure to tune in to the live Christening on Jan. 19 at 10:30am EST on disneycruise.com/dream!
If you have any questions about the ship or would like me to check out anything specific, please be sure to leave a comment or @ me on Twitter.
In the meantime, if you would like to take a peek at what this incredible new ship has to offer, check out the slide-shows, video and web-casts on Disney Cruise’s website.
