Kanani Akina – American Girl’s New 2011 Girl Of The Year From Beautiful Hawaii
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about American Girl’s gorgeous new addition!
From her luxurious long locks and beautiful skin, to her personal story that will grab you and take you to the lush tropical paradise of Hawaii, Kanani Akina is one of the most beautiful dolls American Girl has come out with! The only catch – she is a limited edition, available for this year only.
Kanani kicked off American Girl’s year-long 25th birthday celebration on January 1st, when she made her official debut. Her heartwarming story takes girls to the beautiful Hawaiian island Kauai, to learn about the Aloha spirit and teaches valuable virtues and lessons on sharing.
My daughter is a huge American Doll fan, so to say that she was excited when Kanani was delivered a couple of weeks ago, would be quite the understatement! This time though, things are a little different, because through the story of Kanani’s life and the Hawaiian culture so evident throughout the accompanied book, my 4-year-old daughter has become more enthusiastic about her doll then ever before.
Kanani comes dressed in a beautiful aqua summer frock, complete with delicate sandals and a gorgeous necklace. There are a wide variety of clothing and accessories available including an Ice Stand that is the replica of her family’s business that is mentioned throughout the book.
There is a twist to the story and although I won’t give it away, American Girl has used this opportunity to introduce a national campaign in support of Kanani and her story’s inspirational message, through interactive Kanani retail events, Kanani and Me E-cards, and a partnership with the National Wildlife Federation® (NWF). This national nonprofit has had over 70 years of experience fostering a connection to wildlife and nature in American’s of all ages. A partnership with American Girl only seemed fitting.
I have worked with American Girl in the past and they are a company that has received a double thumbs up, every time. This toy company is one that can teach a child valuable life lessons, geography, culture from other countries and help nonprofit organizations in one fell swoop. It isn’t just about the toy, its about making a difference in the life of our children and others.
To purchase Kanani and to take a peek at everything she offers, be sure to visit American Girl. Just keep in mind, she is only available for 2011!
