Chloé Kid’s: The Spring Summer 2011 Childrenswear Collection Preview
Chloé for kids! Whoever came up with that concept was simply genius. Founded in 1952 by French designer Gaby Aghion, the brand was launched as an alternative to haute couture. Childrenswear was welcomed into the couture family years later to the delight of fashion-savvy moms across the country.
Chloé’s Spring Summer 2011 collection takes on a different tone compared to their 2010 Spring line. The cuts are more relaxed with breezy elements to them. You will find lots of denim this season! Denim shorts, jean jackets and pants. I was surprised to see fleece shorts in this line as the fabric doesn’t scream ‘lux’ to me, but the inclusion is just another nod to the chilled out and relaxed theme they have worked in this new collection.
Cotton reigns supreme and is found in pretty much every piece, blended with linen for the casual dresses and silk for the dressier ones. Prints are scarce, but you can find a lighter check with some of the percale pieces. For accessories, Chloé has kept it simple with leather belts and straw hats.
In regards to trends, Chloé embraces one of the biggest hits of 2010 – the jegging – coming out with their very own version. They have also included an interesting ‘glitter’ trend using very subtle iridescent fabrics with a couple of their leggings and dresses, and by adding a pearescent hue to one of the linen tops.
