Looking For Flight Deals? You Won’t Find American Airlines On Orbitz Anymore

If you’re like me and prefer to find the best deal possible when traveling, you most likely search for your travel deals on websites like Orbitz, Travelocity, Red Tag and Expedia to compare rates and flight times.

Starting today, you won’t be able to compare American Airline flights on Orbitz.com, because the airline and the online travel company severed their relationship on Tuesday after an Illinois court confirmed that AA could in fact cancel their contract.

This comes as a surprise considering, “American Airlines, through its holding company AMR Corp (AMR, Fortune 500)., was one of five original founders of Orbitz in late 1999. The airlines wanted to compete with existing computer-reservation systems such as Travelocity.”

CNN Money reports: “American Airlines accounted for about 5% of Orbitz Worldwide revenue for the first nine months of the year, according to Hoyt.”

What a shame! If you don’t fly American Airlines, no worries, but if you do want to compare their rates with other airlines, check out other travel deal websites just to make sure you are getting the best deal. If you live in Canada, I recommend Red Tag, because they are the only travel deal site that compare discount airlines such as Sunwing and Air Transat.
