Petit Trousseau: The Exquisite New Clothing Collection For Children & Babies
Petit Trousseau is a new company that recently debuted their stunning collections of children’s clothing, combining the sophistication and quality of European fashion with Southern tradition. Developed by Betsy Jinks Lefkovits, Petit Trousseau is an incredible line of high quality, beautiful and timeless clothing.
I just received two dresses from this line and honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. As you know, I am usually more biased towards European fashions as they tend to be the best in quality and design. Petit Trousseau however has shattered my myth with their collections (this is the first American company, that has done that for me).
For babies, the ‘Honey Bee Layette Collection’ and ‘Signature Layette Collection’ surround your child in soft Pima cotton. Convertible gowns, playsuits, footies, infant caps and receiving blankets, pant and cardigan sets with removable collars, a one-piece cable knit playsuit with bow and removable collar, cable knit blankets with scalloped edge detail, bonnets and booties are all included.
The line that I have seen first hand is Petit Trousseau’s Occasions Collection, for boys and girls ages 2T to 6 years. Fine fabrics such as cashmere, Donegal Italian Wool Tweed, velvet, Silk Shantung and Lamgora (a lambs’ wool and angora combination) are used to make these boutique pieces.
If you want the ‘best of the best’ for your child and yet want to dress them in age-appropriate clothing that celebrates their childhood in a fine, sophisticated way – this is it! Each piece feels as though it came from a museum. The refined silhouettes are those that you would find in the movies like ‘The Little Princess’ or other Victorian films.
Made from 100% cotton velvet, the Elizabeth Dress is my favorite pick for girls. It has a gorgeous tonal shantung silk peter pan collar and sash, that embodies class and elegance. The dress is fully lined with a tulle underskirt and is heavy enough to keep your child warm during the chillier months.
For boys, my pick is the Andrew coat. Made from Lamgora, this classic double-breasted coat brings back the handsome elegance into boyhood.
Petit Trousseau is not a budget line, the prices are higher than what you would find in the stores, because, well the quality blows others away. These pieces are ones that you can pass down to generations. I know, once my girls outgrow Petit Trousseau I’ll be keeping these dresses around for my grandchildren!
